Speckled Trout Limits East Of Stone Island In Black Bay
Randall Shaw, with Louisiana Fishing Charters, stated he’s caught a number of latest limits of specks in clear, shifting water and instructed spots just like the Wreck, 5 Wells, the Black Tanks, the Compressor and as far east because the Central Rig and the rocks at the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet Canal.
“Everybody’s been saying the fishing in Black Bay hasn’t been good. Well, it’s been nice all 12 months when the wind is down,” Shaw stated. “Now the wind is down and the river is down. The fish have at all times been there, they’ve simply been out of attain for most individuals.
“Most individuals don’t want to experience 20 or 30 miles to get into that water,” he stated. “Now the river’s come down, the salinity is up nearer in, and these fish are exhibiting up.”
The bottom line is to concentrate on the clear water Shaw has been seeing east of Stone Island. A little bit additional west, he mentioned the water is extra soiled and the fishing hasn’t been pretty much as good.
“That line can transfer. It looks like they’re sitting right on the edge of that soiled water. If the soiled water moves 10 miles east, they’ll go 10 miles east,” he mentioned. “Just attempt to stay in those patches of clean water. If you’ll find it, they’ve been unbelievable. That is the stuff I’ve been ready all year to see.”
The weather forecast appears great all week lengthy, but tidal ranges usually are not significantly favorable for this coming weekend, he mentioned.
“Just look for good water and transferring water,” Shaw said. “If you get out into Black Bay and the water’s not transferring, go deeper. The deeper you go, the more tidal motion you’re going to seek out. The bait will likely be shifting with it and the trout can be feeding.”
Smaller trout have already begun transferring north into Pumpkin Bay and Drum Bay as they migrate to the interior marshes, he said.
“Those are little trout just beginning to indicate up there,” Shaw said. “Give them another two or three weeks and they’ll be in there. They’re getting close.”
After the full moon on Sept. 19, Shaw mentioned he’ll start actively fishing for specks nearer in.
“That shall be when i start looking for them on the sting of the marsh,” he said.
Redfish-sensible, massive bull reds have moved in and are biting along the edge of the marsh and in Black Bay.
Shaw instructed useless shrimp beneath a popping cork or useless shrimp on stone island micro reps field jacket cruise a Carolina rig, if you’re fishing shelves in deeper water.
“They’re really exhibiting up everywhere. It appears just like the middle of the marsh, alongside the Twin Pipelines Canal, and across the edges the place Black Bay meets the marsh, have been having a number of bulls,” Shaw said.
